Coffee on the deck with Dale this morning. Will aim to be on the 9:15 a.m. ferry for departure from the Island. I wish Dale were coming home with me. 

Was in line for the ferry by 8:45. 

Took a picture...

...or two as I waited for the ferry to arrive. 

Stopped at Thompson Hill after getting through Superior. Ran into some very heavy rain just north of Hinckley. It was come down so hard at certain points that the wipers couldn’t keep up and it was really hard to see. Pulled into our alley at 2:45 so including waiting for the ferry and the ferry ride itself it was a 6 hour trip. Not too bad.

Barely made it on the 9:00 ferry to begin the trip back home. Due to some humongous oil rig type thing taking up about a third of the boat we just squeaked on board. They had to angle me just so and couldn't close the back all the way. I was the last car to make it on.

First trip up for the season.

Athena and I only made two stops on the way up. The above two pictures were made at our second stop not far from Cornucopia, Wisconsin on Highway 13 North. The water is a bit brown due to some recent heavy storms.

Athena and I made it just in time for the 4 p.m. ferry.

I think Athena, an excellent traveler as always, recognizes where she is.

Still on the ferry. We're both looking forward to seeing Dale. By the way, I am so happy I didn't forget my suitcase like last year!!

Dale's on the Island this weekend for his yearly pre-season reconnaissance. He texted me this photo of ice on the lake from his ferry ride over. I don't believe there has still been ice on the lake in May in a good number of years.

Nichevo II

The Nichevo II is one of the four boats that are part of the Madeline Island Ferry Line.  During my last stay on the Island is was mostly docked at the ferry landing.

On Thursday June 13, I took a jaunt over to Bayfield for lunch and some shopping. Dale had to work so I was on my own. The above photos are from my ferry ride over.
